Jackson Christian opens baseball season with win over Liberty

JACKSON, Tenn — Wet fields didn’t stop some teams from hitting the diamond Monday night for the first night of Spring sports in West Tennessee.

Jackson Christian downs LibertyJackson Christian downed Liberty Tech 11-1 in 7 innings to start their Region 8A defense off with a win.

After the game, coaches and players said it felt good to get back into action.

“First of the game, you could tell, first inning or two we were a little nervous,” Jackson Christian head coach, Chuck Cooper said. “I think the guys were a little bit flat, but once they got comfortable and started doing what they could do, they responded well.”

“Always good to come out first game and get a big win,” Jackson Christian, senior pitcher, Hunter Higdon said. “It’s good for the whole season and the rest of our team.”

The Eagles get back in action tomorrow when they play Chester County at home as part of the “Tomahawk Classic”.
