Jackson man who shot wife sentenced on federal gun charges
JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson man who fatally shot his wife was sentenced Tuesday for unlawful possession of multiple firearms.
Edward L. Stanton III, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, sentenced 44-year-old Michael Allen Smith Sr. to serve 120 months in prison.
Jackson police say Smith used a Ruger .40 caliber pistol to fatally shoot his wife in August 2013, an act reportedly witnessed by one of her children.
