Campbell County judge under investigation by judicial board
JACKSBORO, Tenn. (AP) – A hearing panel of the Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct has ordered a probe to investigate a Campbell County judge who is already the target of an investigation.
Shelby County Criminal Court Judge Chris Craft, a chairman of the board, told the Knoxville News Sentinel Tuesday that a probe is under way following at least three complaints filed against Campbell County General Sessions Judge Amanda Sammons.
Craft says he could not discuss the specifics of the case because of confidentiality rules.
Chief Disciplinary Counsel Tim Discenza, a former federal prosecutor, is helming the case.
Sammons did not return a phone message to the newspaper Tuesday.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is already investigating Sammons after she was accused of increasing a charge of a mother without authority.
