McNairy Regional Hospital to close in May
McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — McNairy Regional Hospital and its affiliated clinics will close permanently on May 18, according to Tennova Healthcare.
After recent plumbing problems, an examination of the building revealed the need for the replacement of sewer pipes that have deteriorated under the building, according to a release from the health care provider.
The repairs would require the hospital to be closed for six months or longer.
The hospital’s CEO also cites changes in the community’s use of the hospital in recent years.
“With the extensive repairs needed, disruption to operations and small number of patients using services, McNairy Regional Hospital is not sustainable,” CEO Pamela Roberts states in the release.
The company will try to help employees find other opportunities at regional Tennova Health facilities, according to the release. Job fairs already have been held and more will be scheduled.
Those who work until the hospital closes but are not placed in new positions will receive outplacement services and severance, the release states.
