Troopers search for driver after crash takes out power poles in Gibson Co.

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A car wreck Friday morning near Milan left hundreds without power and police looking for the driver.

Milan auto accidentOfficials say the driver veered off the road and hit two utility poles so hard they were cut in two. But when first responders arrived, the driver was nowhere to be found.

The road was closed for a few hours while crews restored power and cleaned up.

“All of our fire and rescue personnel is trained to try and get to the victim and help, but when you have power lines down you can’t go to the victim because you will become a victim,” Gibson County Fire Chief Bryan Cathey said.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says troopers are still searching for the driver.
