Hoarding Concerns Woman’s Neighbors

BOLIVAR, Tenn. – Some Hardeman County residents said they’ve had enough of their neighbor’s hoarding. Cardboard boxes, old containers, books, and furniture are all piled in her front yard. Neighbors said it’s trash that has accumulated over the years. There is no city ordinance requiring her to clean it. “It kind of takes your breath away to see that one house crowded into the yard,” said T.J. Borders, a neighbor. Gene Mills of the Hardeman County Landfill said a letter has been sent out to the homeowner giving her 30 days to clean up her yard. Residents said it’s long overdue. “It’s a garbage dump,” said George Sargent, a neighbor. “Because she gets everything from the dump.” Neighbors said they’re also concerned about the woman’s health. “What scares me is not really the mess,” said Borders. “But her health because all of that stuff will kill you.” WBBJ reached out to the homeowner in question, but was unable to reach her.
