Brownsville man charged with shooting wife appears in court
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A man accused of shooting and severely injuring his wife last month in Brownsville appeared Tuesday in court.
Joseph Barge was supposed to have a bond hearing, but that hearing was reset because the state wasn’t given enough notice.
Barge is accused of shooting his wife inside their home on March 2 and then barricading himself inside.
It took officers 15 minutes to take the Barge into custody. Investigators said a relative was able to call and convince him to come out.
There’s no new word on his wife’s condition.
Barge is due back in court next month.
