Madison Co. firefighters hold extinguisher classes
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Local firefighters are teaching West Tennesseans how to use a fire extinguisher.
County employees benefited Tuesday from classes hosted by the Madison County Fire Department. They were taught a technique known as “PASS” — a reminder to Pull the pin, Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle and Sweep the extinguisher back and forth.
Also, fire experts say to always remember to call 911 before doing anything.
“There’s a lot of key factors that go into using a fire extinguisher — knowing what type of fire extinguisher to use, knowing when to use it, have a good escape route in the event that you have to use it and the fire continues to grow,” Fire Marshal Don Friddle said.
