Lane College fraternity honored with key to the city

JACKSON, Tenn. — One organization at Lane College got a big honor Wednesday as they were presented a key to the city.

The Beta Upsilon Lambda chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity was surprised with the key to the city Wednesday morning in the Lane gymnasium.

Members of the organization said they were proud to receive the honor.

“We are all from different backgrounds, but the thing is it brings us more together as people,” said Ikenna Anyanwu with the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. “The fact that we have a key to the city means we are more with people who are a part of the town. We are all from different cities, but we are all here as one, so therefore we are one big family.”

About 50 people attended the event.
