JCS hosts bi-annual consignment sale this weekend: expecting thousands

JACKSON, Tenn.—A Hub City tradition is underway this weekend, attracting thousands of thrifters for a good cause.

Jackson Christian School is hosting their bi-annual Consignment sale to raise money for the school.

“Anything you want, you can find here,” volunteer Tracey Lewis said.

From preemie to prom, shoppers can save a few bucks at one of Jackson’s largest consignment sales.

“We have a consignment sale every spring and every fall anybody in the community can sign anybody in the community can shop,” Lewis said. “Clothing, we have furniture we have shoes, purses prom dress wedding gowns uniforms for all schools in town.”

Consignment sale workers said they have sold everything but the kitchen sink over the years…but this year, they have the kitchen sink on sale too!

“Housewares type of stuff, furniture, baby items, pictures, mirrors, kitchen stuff, all kinds of stuff,” volunteer Sarah Patrick said.

Organizers said they have 150 volunteers working the sale, which boasts around 55,000 items. They said they expect to see around 5,000 people throughout the sale.

“You kind of have to work all together to be able to build a community, so the more people that can help out here, the better the community is going to be. I think it just brings everybody closer,” Patrick said.

And for many of these workers, the end of the sale is the best part.

“Anything that’s left gets donated to various types of charities around our community, and we send them to other parts of the world,” Lewis said. She said they donate to the Dream Center, Skyline Church of Christ’s ministries, Haiti, Nicaragua, are just a few of the places leftover sale items will be sent.

The public sale is Saturday, April 2, from 8:00 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday is half price day from 1-4  p.m. Monday is their ‘Dollar Day’, which begins at 9:00 a.m.
