Union to host film screening on immigration

JACKSON, Tenn. — Union University is hosting a screening of the film “The Stranger” along with a discussion about a Christian response to immigration this Thursday, April 7.

The workshop is titled, “Immigration: Church and Community Mobilization,” and will take place from 2-4 p.m. in Luther Hall on the Union campus, led by Thi Mitsamphanh, a former refugee and a church mobilizer with World Relief in Memphis, and Courtney Williams, an immigration specialist and attorney with World Relief in Memphis.

The film screening of “The Stranger” and a discussion about the film will take place from 7-9 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium, located in the Barefoot Student Union Building.

Registration is required for the afternoon workshop and is available online at http://www.uu.edu/programs/socialwork/events/.

The event is sponsored by Union’s School of Social Work and the language and sociology departments.
