Emergency Communications Conference is this week in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Dispatchers from across the area gathered Wednesday for the third annual Emergency Communications Conference.
The conference provides free training to 911 telecommunicators from across the state. The Telecommunicator of the Year Award and Emergency Communications Center of the Year Award were presented.
The focus of the meeting was ensuring proper communication between the caller and 911 operator.
“Clearly state what’s going on to the public whenever they’re calling, directions on how to take care of whatever’s happening prior to the arrival of officers or EMS or fire,” said Ken Boroughs, communications manager with Jackson Medlink.
About 80 telecommunicators from across West Tennessee attended Wednesday’s conference at the hospital. The conference runs through Friday.
