Local Woman’s Family Recovering After Oklahoma Tornado

JACKSON, Tenn.- A north Jackson family’s prayers were answered when their family in Moore, Oklahoma survived the deadly EF-5 tornado that killed 24 people. Brenda Carnell told 7 Eyewitness News, when she spoke with her family on Skype, she was so thankful to see their smiling faces. Carnell’s 9-year-old grand niece, Hannah Osborne, was in Plaza Towers Elementary School when the tornado hit. “That’s the first thing that went through my mind,” said Carnell. “I thought had my Hannah died?” The 3rd grader said her teacher laid on top of her classmates to keep them safe. “I felt the tornado,” said Hannah. “People were screaming so loud. My friend said ‘It’s OK,’ and he was holding my hand.” Hannah’s mom Deidra said she cannot put the last 48 hours into words. “It’s all gone,” Deidra said with tears in her eyes. “It’s just all gone.” The family was able to find a few things in the rubble, including Hannah’s Justin Bieber concert tickets. They say if anyone wants to help victims donate to the Red Cross.
