State Treasurer Addresses Tax Revenues with County Officials

JACKSON, Tenn.- The state treasurer visited the Madison County finance department to address the county commissioners and finance leaders, Thursday. According to David Lillard, the Volunteer State is in good financial shape compared to our surrounding states. In fact last fall, Baron’s Magazine named Tennessee as one of the top three states in the nation when it comes to financial practices. Treasurer Lillard credits the state’s ability to stay focused on the budget. “I think it’s because we have been farsighted in our ability to look down the road as see trend lines and things that needed to be addressed from a financial standpoint and also a willingness to make the tough decisions,” said David Lillard, treasurer for the State of Tennessee. The state treasurer spent two days in the West Tennessee area visiting county commissions and financial offices.
