Old books find new life with library’s ‘re:Book It’ contest

JACKSON, Tenn. — Local artists found new life for old books at the Jackson-Madison County Library’s re:Book 2016 contest.

ReBook It library contest 2Artists used books to make sculptures and other creations. The results are on display at the library in downtown Jackson.

Contestants from fifth grade up took old books lying around and turned them into something special, including birdhouses, cases and furniture.

“The pieces of art will remain on display for probably two weeks at least, so you’ll have plenty of time to come by and view them,” library director Dinah Harris said. “But I think you would love to see what people have just created out of their minds with paper.”

The judges will pick a winner Saturday afternoon.
