Jacob Barker Musicfest brings out musicians, fans to downtown Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn.-Musicians from across the area are performing for free Friday and Saturday, all for a good cause.

The Jacob Barker Musicfest kicked off downtown at ‘The Amp’ Friday afternoon. The show is an effort by the family of 4-year-old Jacob Barker to give back the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The two-day event will feature more than 20 bands.

Organizers said it is all about coming together and giving back.

“I hope that they take away that we can come together as a community and really do something special and support our local musicians and artists,” said event organizer Misty Shanks.

The event itself is free, but all donations will benefit St. Jude. Saturday’s festivities begin at 11 a.m. and will last through 10:30 p.m.
