Superheroes converge to celebrate reading
JACKSON, Tenn.-Dozens of students at Alexander Elementary channeled their inner superhero Tuesday night.
The Superhero Bash gave students the chance to dress up as their favorite superheroes and celebrate reading.
Teachers, parents and other faculty members also joined in on the fun.
The books were donated and given to the children by the non-profit organization “First Books.”
“We will get books in their hands and hopefully they will develop that love of reading and that will carry over throughout their education and beyond,” said Kristin Peachey, of Alexander Elementary School.
The students also made “Power Up” pizzas to encourage healthy eating and to give them energy to be “super” readers.
Each of the superheroes were also given books to take home.
