Plans of new TN State Museum revealed with stop in Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn.-A statewide tour to unveil plans for a new Tennessee State Museum makes a stop in the Hub City, Wednesday night.
Residents and officials from across West Tennessee gathered to hear about the new landmark, whose home will be on the Bicentennial Mall in north Nashville.
Officials with the new museum said the state’s history is shaped by communities across the Volunteer State and they want Tennesseans to know more about the project.
“We want it to be a place that families make repeat visits and come and take a little bit of a different bite each time. It will have something for everyone, young and old and in between,” said Emily Reynolds of the Tennessee State Museum Foundation.
The current Tennessee State Museum was established in 1937 and has been located in Downtown Nashville for the past 35 years.
The $120 million project is set to open in 2018.
