Day care students take part in ‘Seuss Parade’ for Child Abuse Prevention Month

JACKSON, Tenn. — Day care students got a special parade Friday in west Jackson as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Child Abuse ParadeChildren and parents from the Forrest Heights Church Day Care participated in a “Seuss Parade” put on by the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

The parade included games, reading time and a Cat in the Hat who posed for pictures. Organizers say their goal is for every child to grow up in a safe environment.

“We want to promote positive families, positive activities for children, and so this is the fun way for us to just kind of say that every child deserves a safe, happy, healthy childhood,” said Sherry Cole with the Carl Perkins Center.

If you’d like to help, organizers say they’re looking for copies of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” which you can donate at the Carl Perkins Center. The books will then be given to children who complete therapy and other programs.
