200 people clean up for ‘Keep Jackson Beautiful’ initiative

 

JACKSON, Tenn. — Around 200 people hit the streets in the Hub City for a city-wide cleanup day.

Screen Shot 2016-04-23 at 4.30.06 PMDistrict Four Councilman Harvey Buchanan said this is the 22nd year they have hosted this “Keep Jackson Beautiful” event.

Volunteers worked on landscaping, litter pickup, and other projects to clean up their neighborhoods.

Residents were also able to put out old furniture, large trash piles, and brush piles for the city to pick up.

“This is a collaborative effort to keep our community clean it makes a positive atmosphere for the community,” Councilman Harvey said.

The city will continue to pick up piles left out on curbs throughout the week.

Keep Jackson Beautiful will run through the entire month of April.
