PICWICK, Tenn- Some local fisherman said the temperature is not too hot or cold, but just right for fishing on Memorial Day. “With the water temperature the way it is and the dam generating, people are definitely catching fish,” said fishing guide, Clagett Talley. According to Talley, water temperature has a major affect on fish activity in both fresh and saltwater. He said the current temperature is approximately 72 degrees in the water, making it a perfect time for fishing. “There is probably no better time to go than now,” said Talley, who also claims that the most popular fish in the area are bass and catfish. “They’re both easier to catch in these temps,” he said. For some a day off of work for Memorial Day also means more time to fish. “Today you can tell there are a lot of people out fishing and having fun,” said Talley.
