Man sentenced in Hancock County for sex crime

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) – A former Army medic has been sentenced to five years in prison in Hancock County Circuit Court for touching a child for lustful purposes.

The Sea Coast Echo reports Anthony Milner was sentenced Thursday by Circuit Judge Larry Bourgeois (BOORZ’-wah) for inappropriately touching a 12-year-old girl in 2013.

Under an open plea, a defendant can plead guilty, while not admitting guilt, if he feels a jury would convict him.

Milner did not admit guilt during his sentencing. His attorney, Damian Holcomb, asked that Milner only receive two years in prison, the minimum sentence for the crime.

Bourgeois sentenced Milner to 15 years, but suspended 10 of them. He was also fined $3,000 and will have to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
