Madison Co. budget committee meets, discusses budget issues

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.-Members of the Madison County Budget Committee gathered Monday evening to discuss plans for the upcoming budget.

The group reviewed the budget, examining smaller departments and where funds could be saved and in some cases, reallocated.
Committee members told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News it is all about finding out where funds are going and coming from.

“It sounds like it’s housekeeping but in reality, it’s a good way to be able to identify where our true costs are and where we’re also getting revenue,” said Doug Stephenson, budget committee chairman.

Later, committee members will meet to discuss the school budget and also the Madison County jail.
