Police beefing up security at bus terminal after 4 shot
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Nashville police say they are beefing up security at a downtown bus terminal after four teenagers were shot there Monday.
Police say 18-year-old Javious Chatman was seriously injured. Three teenage boys, two aged 16 and the other 17, suffered from non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities say the bus terminal was crowded when the shots were fired near an upper-level escalator around 3:30 p.m. The Music City Central MTA bus terminal is a central transfer station for schoolchildren and other passengers, and an estimated 4,000 young people pass through it daily.
Police are calling it a “seemingly targeted shooting” and believe the three teens who suffered less serious injuries were hit by stray rounds.
Authorities say they have detained two people who were spotted running and tossing a gun into shrubbery.
