Small fires intentionally at Knoxville College
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Knoxville fire officials say two small fires found burning in a building at Knoxville College were intentionally set.
Fire Department Capt. Mark Wilbanks told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1auV4Wi) fire inspectors have determined they have an arson investigation.
Wilbanks said students in different campus buildings saw flames and reported the fire just after midnight Monday. Wilbanks said two students ran to the Martin Luther King building and tried to extinguish the fires burning in a stairwell with fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful. Fire engines arrived minutes later.
The building is vacant.
The department’s Fire and Investigation Unit is looking into the arson. No one has been arrested, and there were no injuries.
