Runners lace up for annual “Glow Out 5K”
JACKSON, Tenn.-Hundreds of Hub City runners laced up their sneakers Thursday night with hopes of getting one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.
For the second year in a row, the Kirkland Cancer Center hosted its “Glow Out 5K”.
The event hopes to raise $3,500 for research, with every penny going to the American Cancer Society.
“Individually, we could not raise enough money to fund the research for cancer. But altogether, with events like this across the country, we can definitely make a difference,” said Gina Myracle, director of the Kirkland Cancer Center.
140 runners participated in Thursday night’s event.
