One dies in fatal officer-involved shooting

ALAMO, Tenn. –Around 3:30 Sunday morning Crockett County deputies and a Maury city police officer were executing a search warrant at a home on Colvett road in Alamo.

“At that point there was an officer involved shooting,” said Crockett County sheriff Troy Klyce. “From that point of course we responded and then according to our protocol we called the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.”

Sheriff Klyce says the officers investigation at the home was unrelated to the shooting.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, 28 year old Ronald Branch was at this home when officers arrived, although he didn’t live there. Investigators say branch was waving a weapon around which escalated the situation, resulting in shots being being fired. Two Crockett county deputies fired their weapons wounding branch, who later died at a local hospital.

According to property owner who we spoke with off camera, the man who lived there with his child was not home at the time of this incident.
It is unclear what branch was doing at home.

Several TBI agents and a team of forensic scientists are working to gather any and all evidence as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting.
The officers involved are now on paid administrative leave.

“Prayers for them and the family of the deceased,” said Sheriff Klyce . “We know all of the people involved its a close community so its just tough.”

TBI will submit their findings to the district attorney general for further review. The officers involved may be able to return to work after the t-b-i investigation is over.
