Accused gunman indicted in deadly shooting
JACKSON, Tenn. — A suspected killer will now stand trial for his alleged crime.
Trimon Pruitt was indicted this week by a Madison County grand jury on a count of first-degree murder in the Dec. 2 shooting death of Tony Willoughby.
Pruitt is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. May 9.
Police say Pruitt shot Willoughby multiple times near Allenton Heights, according to court papers.
Officers reportedly found Willoughby lying on the side of the street along with several spent .40 caliber casings.
Two of Pruitt’s alleged fellow gang members took the stand during an April 14 preliminary hearing to testify against him.
The two professed Vice Lord gang members testified that Pruitt shot Willoughby over a violation within the street gang.
After hearing the testimony, the judge sent the case on to the grand jury.
Pruitt is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
