Architects share ideas for new Madison Co. jail
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Talks continued Wednesday about the building of a new jail in Madison County.
Nine architect firms were interviewed, supplying ideas and plans for how they’d build the new jail, set to go up around the existing jail in downtown Jackson.
Sheriff John Mehr says everyone involved has a date in mind for when they want to move this process forward.
“We’ll do this process and we’re going to look at maybe by the first of August having somebody in place,” Mehr said.
Of those nine groups, Madison County officials will narrow down the candidates and bring back the remaining groups for further discussion.
