Puppies left in Selmer Wal-Mart parking lot, community outraged
SELMER, Tenn. — Community members in Selmer are outraged after nine puppies were left in plastic totes in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
According to the McNairy County Humane Society, surveillance video showed the person they suspect leaving the dogs before driving away in a white SUV.
The puppies are about six weeks old and are being vaccinated and treated for ringworm before they are put up for adoption.
“It’s wrong. I mean, it’s just awful that they do things like that,” said Tina Churchwell with the McNairy County Humane Society. “There’s no sense in that this day and time. There’s just no sense. This is 2016, and there’s no reason to do that when you have people who are willing to help.”
The Humane Society encourages area residents to take advantage of their voucher program to get pets spayed, neutered and vaccinated.
If you have any information on who left the puppies, contact Selmer police at 731-645-7906.
