Hardeman Co. man charged in deadly weekend shooting

HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. — A man is charged with first-degree murder after a Sunday night shooting leaves a Bolivar man dead.

Marco Dewayne Jenkins, 37, of Grand Junction turned himself in Monday morning and is charged in the shooting death of Demetrius Hoyle, 36, of Bolivar, according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

TBI agents and the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident that occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the release.

A driver flagged down a Tennessee State Trooper at the intersection of Highway 57 and Tippah Street and said the passenger in his car, Hoyle, had been shot, according to the release.

Hardeman County deputies and Grand Junction police officers also responded and found the victim to be deceased.

An investigation led agents to identify Jenkins as being responsible for the shooting.

Jenkins is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, according to the release.

He is being held in the Hardeman County Jail. Bond has not been set at this time.
