TBI shares pics of man’s purchases before East Tenn. girl’s disappearance
ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of investigation has released photos of the items they say a man purchased at Wal-Mart before taking his niece from school and disappearing with her last week.
The items are among those purchased by Gary Simpson prior to taking 9-year-old Carlie Trent from her school in Rogersville on May 4.
Carlie was taken from her Rogersville school May 4 by her uncle by marriage, Gary Simpson, under false pretenses, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Simpson has no custodial rights to Carlie.
The two are believed to be in a white 2002 Dodge Conversion van with Tennessee registration 173GPS. The van has a dark stripe down the middle with light gold running boards and has paint chipping off the hood.
Carlie is described as a white female, is four feet eight inches tall and weighs 75 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black and gray tank top and blue jeans.
Simpson, 57, is described as a white male standing five feet ten inches tall and weighing 157 pounds. He is balding and has brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown cap, a dark colored shirt and jeans.
Warrants have been issued for Simpson for kidnapping.
