Suspect in Meigs County crash that killed 4 in custody
DECATUR, Tenn. (AP) – Bradley County officials say they have arrested the suspect in a Meigs County crash that killed four people.
Media outlets report that 34-year-old John Wesley Bennett is accused of driving a dump truck that lost its trailer on Highway 58 on Friday afternoon. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the trailer then hit two cars, killing four people.
Authorities in Bradley County confirm that Bennett has been arrested and is in the Bradley County jail. They haven’t commented on potential charges.
The victims of the crash were identified as 38-year-old Andrew Blackford, 37-year-old Samantha Norris, 36-year-old Christopher Denton and 62-year-old Paula Stevens.
It isn’t clear if Bennett has an attorney.
