11 kilos of cocaine in RV in Gulfport leads to indictment
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – A federal grand jury has indicted a man after authorities allegedly found about 11 kilos of cocaine in his RV.
The Sun Herald reports 69-year-old Victor John Wendell Jr. will be arraigned Thursday on a three-count indictment in U.S. District Court.
An indictment filed May 3 charged Wendell with conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and interstate travel in aid of drug racketeering enterprises.
Wendell was arrested April 12 when a Harrison County deputy pulled him over on a traffic violation in Gulfport.
Deputies reportedly found fresh handprints and footprints on the RV and its roof. In an affidavit, deputies say they found the cocaine hidden in the RV park’s air conditioning system.
Wendell is held with no bond.
