Big South Fork program is about snakes
ONEIDA, Tenn. (AP) – Visitors to Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area can get up close and personal with snakes.
Park Ranger Dustin Beaty will present a program Saturday evening at Bandy Creek Campground. Beaty will bring along a couple of pals – a corn snake and a black rat snake. Both are well-behaved.
He’ll also tell visitors how to avoid a personal encounter with venomous reptiles that are native to the Cumberland Plateau. The take-away information is what to do if bitten. Beaty will also explain precautions to take when hiking or camping.
The free program at 7 p.m. EDT will be presented at the campfire circle.
Big South Fork is on the Tennessee-Kentucky border near Oneida, Tenn.
