Henry Co. native wins highest student honor at Tennessee Tech

JACKSON, Tenn. — Paris, Tennessee native, Kester Nucum, received the highest student honor at Tennessee Tech University, the Derryberry Award.

Tennessee Tech is a university of about 10,000 students, so his selection for the award is pretty significant.

Nucum had a 4.0 GPA and is very proud of his West Tennessee upbringing.

“I got very involved, and just coming from a rural area just to win the award is kind of like a testament that, you know, I wanted to show that someone from our side of the state can make it big at a very good university like Tech,” Nucum said.

Nucum would like to thank all of his supporters as well as everyone who gave him this drive to succeed.
