The first-aid organization recommends an underground shelter, basement or safe room as the places to be during strong storms.
The Red Cross said the safe room should be a small, windowless interior room or hallway on the lowest level of a sturdy building.
In the event you are caught outdoors and can’t get inside, officials said avoid high ground water, tall and isolated tree and metal objects like fences or bleachers.
