Local utilities department addresses ‘brown, yellow water’

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — A local utilities department says a recent water leak has led to some customers seeing “brown and yellow” water.

Running Water

According to a news release from the Huntingdon Utilities Department, the water color is due to a leak on the Court Square that occurred on April 19.

The department says that the color in the water is from iron, which is normally removed from the well water that they draw from.

The department adds that there were some equipment issues at the Water Treatment Plant, which are being resolved.

The department says they are working with the state and an outside consultant on the issue.
