BEMIS, Tenn. – Several in West Tennessee are digging out from severe weather storm damage and dealing with same areal flooding in their town. “They said it was straight line winds, but it looked like a tornado came through,” said Tyrice Anderson who has live in Bemis for three months. Anderson also is aware of the flooding problem in the town. “With these storms I was surprised to see flooding wasn’t as big as an issue with the wind and storm damage that occurred,” he said. Flooding is nothing new to south Jackson. Vicki Starnes has lived in the area for 21 years and knows exactly why it is a problem. “A lot of the problem comes from A street because there’s no drainage system there so it cuts down the road in front of my house,” said Starnes. Starnes said she has been dealing with it for so long that she was immune to the flooding. “Over the years I’ve learned, I’ve got me some waders and rain gear I’ve learned. My dog and I have had to evacuate,” said Starnes. The storms caused quite a bit of damage. No injuries were reported.
