1 dead, 1 injured in fatal Weakley Co. crash

WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — A single-car accident Sunday near Martin took the life of one and injured another.

According to a report from Lt. Brad Wilbanks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Ralston Road and ran off the side of the roadway.

The report states the driver, Farrah Walters, 20, then over corrected and ran off the side of the roadway a second time where she then hit an embankment and a concrete culvert. Walters was not wearing her seat belt, according to the report. Officials say she was pronounced dead.

Authorities say a 2-year-old was in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash where he was wearing a seat belt but was not restrained by a child safety device. He has been reported to have sustained injuries. There is not yet word on the extent of his injuries.
