Crockett Co. man accused of trying to kill girlfriend
CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — A man is behind bars on an attempted first-degree murder charge after officers say he tried to kill his girlfriend over the weekend.
According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, Billy Anderson, 26, first broke out the windows of his girlfriend’s car before firing several shotgun rounds at her around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Anderson was drunk at the time of the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. His girlfriend hid behind a truck door and was able to escape when he ran out of ammunition, according to an incident report.
The Jackson SWAT team also responded to help deputies apprehend Anderson.
Anderson was taken into custody on additional charges of reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and vandalism.
Deputies found five spent 12-gauge shotgun shells in the front yard, according to the report.
He is being held in the Crockett County Jail in lieu of a $250,00 bond.
