Church to host summer prayer meetings across Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local church is taking its mission to the streets of West Tennessee this summer. Campbell Street Church of Christ says they’re taking a vacation from their sanctuary.

community prayer meeting“By the end of the summer, hopefully we’ll have covered the entire city and give people the opportunity to come together as part of their neighborhoods,” Minister Danny Sorrell said.

Wednesday, May 18, the church will host the beginning of their summer-long series of prayer meetings. The first of nine will be right here at South Side High School. These meetings will include free food for the community, games for kids, and then a time to join together praying for and with one another. They also hope to walk the streets and pray for residents.

“This is a community that believes in the power of prayer, and we’ve seen prayer work,” Sorrell said. “We’ve seen prayer make a difference in people’s lives. This is an important time in our country. It’s an important time in our city.”

The church said this is just an event for their congregation but that they hope many people in Jackson will come to one or all of these services.
