Playing For His Team

JACKSON, Tenn — Jackson Christian pitcher Wesley Wester, thought he had tendinitis in his throwing shoulder when he felt some discomfort. He and the medical staff treated his shoulder for that, and pain went away. Months later come to find out, Wester had a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.

Not wanting to miss his senior season and let his team down by going through with surgery, he decided to go through rehab and come back mid season.

Wester said it killed him sitting out and watching his team play, but everyday during rehab he was thinking of not himself but his team and how he wanted to return for them.

He did just that, in April Wester made his first start. Since then he has gone 2-1 on the mound.

Head coach Chuck Cooper said, ” He’s a senior, he won some state tournament games as an underclassmen, he just throws so many strikes.”

Needless to say the Eagles will welcome his leadership and pitching as they try and make a deep run in the post season.
