Hattiesburg superintendent search moves into interview phase

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – The search for a new superintendent for the Hattiesburg Public School District moved into the interview phase with candidates appearing before the district’s Board of Trustees at a specially called meeting.

The Hattiesburg American reports Thursday’s interviews of the superintendent candidates were held in executive session because they dealt with a personnel matter.

More interviews are scheduled for this weekend and Monday. The board will interview a total of 10 candidates.

Earlier this month, board members culled those 10 candidates from a list of 31 applicants hailing from five states.

Interim Superintendent Greg Ladner’s term is up June 30. Board President Marcus Cathey said it’s hoped a new person can be in position by July 1.
