Police say body found near highway may be missing woman
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Deputies say a body found near a highway in Sevier County may be that of a missing woman.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that authorities discovered the body Thursday morning near U.S. Highway 411.
Deputies say that was near the area where 39-year-old Jennifer L. Holmes was last seen. Holmes was reported missing on April 16. She was last seen by family on Feb. 28.
The body was taken to the Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the identity and cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
