Humboldt alderman arrested, charged with violating order of protection

JACKSON, Tenn. — Humboldt Alderman Don Graves was arrested Friday morning by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department after they said he violated an order of protection that had been filed against him.

Humboldt Alderman ArrestedMadison County officials reported receiving a complaint on May 12 that Graves had violated the order of protection and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Graves was elected in 2013 to serve as an alderman for Humboldt’s Ward 3 and took office in January 2014.

WBBJ spoke with the city’s mayor, Marvin Sikes, at his office earlier Friday afternoon. Mayor Sikes did not want to comment on the situation and said they’d like to gather more information on what has happened.

The city’s other alderman also declined to comment.

As for the order of protection Graves is accused of violating, Madison County officials said it was filed Jan. 14 but wouldn’t reveal who had filed the order or what type of relationship they had to the alderman.
