Surveillance Video of ATM Heist Released

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Madison County Sheriff‘s Department has released surveillance video of the theft of an automated teller machine from a Madison County convenience store. In the video, a man is seen walking up to the Superway Convenience Store on Riverside Drive during the early morning hours of Friday, May 31. Deputies said they believe the man threw something through the front window to see if the alarm would sound. The man ran away from the business and got into a vehicle and left the scene. When the car returned to the scene a short time later, it backed into the business and left the scene again. It returned one more time and slammed into the front of the store again. This time, the pair in the vehicle pulled the ATM from the store and tried to put it in the back seat. When the machine did not fit in the vehicle, it was placed on top of the trunk and the car sped away. Deputies believe the car was a late 1980s or early 1990s Mercury Topaz. If you have any information on the crime, you are asked to call the Madison County Sheriff‘s Department (731.423.6000) or Crime Stoppers (731.424.8477).
