VFW post decorates cemetery for deceased soldiers

JACKSON, Tenn.–Dozens of volunteers gather at Ridgecrest cemetery to put 600 flags out for the Memorial Day holiday.VFW FLAGS

For 20 years, Jackson’s VFW Post 6496 has been leaving the flags to fly above the grave sites of soldiers.

While some headstones are heavily decorated with patriotic mementos, for others the flags are one of the few visuals left to show these men and women served our country.

“All year long we should remember. We should remember where our freedoms come from. Some made it, some did not,” Frank Arnold, Post Commander said.

The flags will be on display until Wednesday.

Anyone interested in helping remove the flags is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10 a.m.
