HUNTINGDON, Tenn. – A group of students from West Carroll Jr./Sr. High School are confident that they know exactly what to do in any situation. They have worked for the past several years on their problem solving skills. The Problem Solving program is a team of four girls from the school and they are a part of the gifted program. Catie Mayo said, “We look at a future scene and come up with solutions to do it. It challenges us and teaches us to look outside the box and come up with different solutions that people may not think.” The program is focused on not only how to solve a problem, but how to be a leader in the community. Meredith Brown said the program has helped her. “After I graduate and you know we graduate we’re going to have jobs and families and we’re going to have problems that we need to solve and this program helps us solve those problems,” she said. The students are excited to be able to participate in an international competition and said it is a great way to network and meet new people outside of West Tennessee. Hannah Poole said, “It helps everyone to work together you have people from the US and everywhere else in the world and helps them work together and efficiently solve problems.”
