How to Protect Air Conditioning Units During Summer

JACKSON Tenn. – The official start to summer is still a couple weeks away, but experts said people need to make sure their air conditioning units are ready for the hot days to come. B.W. White with Jackson Heating and Cooling told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that everyone should have their units checked twice a year to prevent major repair bills. “It’s very important to have your regular scheduled plan service and maintenance,” said White. According to White, the best and easiest way to save on your utility bill is to change your filters every month. “It will cause you problems,” said White. “Not only problems with the system, but it will shorten the system’s life and cost you more on your utility bill.” As summer heats up, experts said set your thermostat at a temperature you like, and leave it. “A lot of people have the misconception that if you turn it down lower it will cool faster, and that’s just not the case,” said White. Experts said be preventative. And if you are noticing an issue, call a local HVAC service immediately.
